Laura Kightlinger, creator and star of IFC's critically acclaimed "The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman" has earned a reputation as a cable phenom. In an industry of triple threats, she has established herself with television credits that include "Roseanne," "Dennis Miller Live," "SNL" and HBO's "Lucky Louie," as well as being a writer/producer for the Emmy Award winning "Will & Grace," where she also appeared as the popular recurring character, Nurse Sheila.
Featured in her own stand-up specials on HBO and Comedy Central (before they started paying people), she also appeared in animated form on Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist. Laura is currently suing her animated form for character assassination.
Not content to rest on her small screen successes, Kightlinger has popped up in several motion pictures. Her own short film, "Dependable People," won the Black Maria Directors' Citation and the IFCT Best Director Award in 2002. Her documentary, "60 Spins Around the Sun," about political satirist turned activist, Randy Credico and his fight to repeal the Rockefeller Drug Laws, while struggling with his own personal demons, won Best Documentary at the 2006 Empire State, Beverly Hills and Boston Film Festivals, and features stand-up comics: Larry David, Colin Quinn, Don Gavin, Vanessa Hollingshead and Nick DiPaolo. Kightlinger also completed a horror mockumentary, "Half-Truths and Near Lies: Cat Demon Re-Exhumed."
The New York Times Book Review described Kightlinger's book, "Quick Shots of False Hope," as "memorable, disturbing and darkly comic."
