Biography:

Matt was born in Chicago and is the 4th of 7 children born to Dick and Audrey Walsh. He attended Northern Illinois University where he received a degree in psychology in 1987. After college moved back to Chicago and briefly tried his hand at counselling but quickly began performing comedy at The Annoyance Theater (The Real Live Brady Bunch, Tippi Portrait of a Virgin) He also performed and studied improvisation at Improv Olympic with Del Close. In 1991 he co-founded the sketch group Upright Citizens Brigade with Matt Besser and Ian Roberts (later joined by Amy Poehler). In 1996 he moved with the group to New York City where they landed a sketch show on Comedy Central and opened a theater. After 3 seasons of the UCB sketch show, Matt started working as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart in March of 2001. Matt has also appeared in several films since then including Old School, Bad Santa, Martin & Orloff, and School for Scoundrels. He's also appeared on many tv shows like Arrested Development, Reno 911, Cheap Seats, Late Night with Conan O'Brien. In 2005 Matt started working on his third Comedy Central series "Dog Bites Man" portraying Spokane news reporter Kevin Beekin. Matt currently lives in Los Angeles with his fiance Morgan and their baby boy Jude. Matt can also be seen performing live at both the New York and Los Angeles, Upright Citizens Brigade Theaters.
